Project Manager, Tecna UK

How Did You Get The Job At Tecna?

A recruitment company put me forward and after two interviews I was offered a role as project co-ordinator (February 2020).

Why Were You Attracted To Joining Tecna?

The team were welcoming, relaxed and focused on delivering a great product and service. Everyone seemed engaged in their work and despite being a small team, there was a good mix of people in the office.

The T3 system, being an adaptive product, lends itself to an ever-growing list of applications which was exciting to me. The work seemed varied and empowering, I was going to see jobs from concept to delivery, working with a range of clients and stakeholders helping them to deliver projects across the UK and Europe.

What Has Been Your Career Progression?

As Exhibitions came to a halt, due to Covid in 2020, we began venturing into new markets to see what else was possible with T3. We then developed and sold a range of Covid prevention screens and solutions creating a whole new side to the business that saw us through until the return of exhibitions towards the end of 2021.

During my first 18 months, I spent most of my time working with the warehouse installation and operation team, helping to deliver and install and range of projects. I learned how to operate a CNC and helped with production, pre-building and installation.

As demand for events and exhibitions began to rise after the pandemic, I worked with the sales team on business development, generating new leads to get us back on track. I then returned to my Project Coordinator role, designing, quoting and completing projects. By spending the first period of my role working closely with the T3 system, I was able to build a good foundation in my knowledge for its application and its limitations. This would later help me when designing projects when I started design and managing projects full time.

Since the start of 2022 exhibitions have seen a full return of exhibitions and live events and I have already been promoted to Project Manager. As a result, I have had to learn fast and develop my work rate whilst continuing to learn how to improve as a project manager.
